Change in level positions

Most of you must have heard by now, that there was an error in keying of geography marks for 1n1, their marks were lower than it should be. So their marks were changed to the correct marks and this has affected the level positions for our class. However the effect on the overall percentage was not much and i am glad to inform that the changes in our level position are not so drastic as originally feared. I will state your registers followed by your level positions in bracket because i don't think you can wait till January to find out. Please not CLASS position remains the SAME. So here are the changes in the LEVEL position:
1(16), 2 (4), 3 (53), 4 (18), 5 (39), 6 (20), 7 (24), 8 (7), 9 (49), 10 (55), 11 (13), 12 (34), 13 (63), 14 (69), 15 (60), 16 (6), 17 (59), 18 (47), 19 (45), 20 (54), 21 (14), 22 (39), 23 (41), 24 (32), 25 (21), 26(4), 27 (50), 28 (61), 29 (10), 30 (74), 31(67), 32 (62), 33(77), 34 (18), 35 (67), 36 (58), 37 (73), 38 (70), 39 (74), 40 (80).

Congratulations for 1N2's good Geography and Maths Performance in Second Semester

As a result of this issue, i had a chance to observe the performance of 1n2 as compared to our neighbours for the Geography second semester results, and i noticed that we have 19 Geography Passes compared to 7 Geography Passes for our neighbours even after the changes have been made. This means that you guys have outperformed not only in Maths but also in Geography. Congratulations. This is indeed a wonderful achievement because honestly most people will not expect 1n2 to beat 1n1 in any subject because you guys had lower scores in your PSLE. But you have PROVED that anybody can ACHIEVE ANYTHING. Your previous performance in your PSLE means nothing now. You have begun a new life and should not use your past performance it as a gauge to bring down your performance. It's all got to do with preparation and confidence for exams.

Thanks for all the wonderful comments and touching apologies

I just want to thank you for the some of the wonderful thank you messages that you have given to me. I do really appreciate all the messages here and on your blogs (yes i read them) and also some nice gifts that i have received from some of you, although i would have wished that you did not spend money to buy these gifts. You know the job of a teacher is to give, not to receive :) I feel guilty taking anything from you guys. I have read some messages and also an sms from someone expressing apologies because of how some of you misunderstood me in the past, i just want to say that you guys are only 13 and each one of you is like an angel, you do something wrong only because you don't see the whole picture. It's like a blind man who touches the trunk of an elephant and thinks it's a snake. You can't blame him/her because he/she has not seen the whole elephant. It's the same with you guys. It's only natural that you will not have the same understanding as me, but the fact that you realized your mistakes shows how much you have changed for the better and i am proud of you for sure. Some of you are even more mature than i was when i was your age, i am happy to say that.

As we leave let us pledge our friendships for each other and forgive each other

Try taking your hand and point at anything in front of you. How many fingers do you point at that thing ? How many fingers do you point at yourself ? You see my dear students, when we find faults in others, we often forget that we have our own faults and ignore them. So we should not be pointing fingers at others because we have to look at our selves first. And my dear students, hate the ACTION not the PERSON. If your friend did something wrong, tell him the action was wrong, but the person is always good. Forgive any mistakes that any of your classmates have done, and say, it's ok. Or if you bear a grudge with another classmate, pick up that phone right now and say, " I have forgiven you". Don't wait my dear students, Live in Love, not in Hate. Hate destroys none but Oneself. Let us fill the world with love and make the world a better place. HATE none LOVE all.

Lots of Love,
Mr Khan

{ 5:05 PM on 'Suggestion for Class Outing' }

The best solution for a class outing is two weeks later for a bbq cum games party at my place because there is a nice pit there and tables and chairs to sit beside the pit and its by the pool. Maybe i can book the badminton court and table tennis tables too and also pool. There is even a karaoke room. Maybe even the pool table. You guys can swim too at the pool. There is also a beautiful open field near my house where we can play socer or frisbee or captains ball. But we need to have a proper plan. Maybe can employ triston as the coordinator again, i am sure he won't mind. But each one has to pay a small sum maybe $5 to buy wings and satay. I can ask my maid to cook probably fried rice and nuggets to save on cost. Somebody has to do collection of funds and be in charge of shopping and planning the activities.

Anybody has any other suggestion ?

Regards,
Mr Khan

Never Say Goodbye

I never had the time on Friday to give a farewell speech because I was running like mad here and there, doing admin matters to prepare for the Parent Teacher’s meeting and writing love letters to you guys which I believe most of you have read by now. Since we have a blog I thought I will give you some final words here.

Since the first day I saw you guys, I knew that this class would be special, it consisted of cute adorable children who stepped into secondary school life and whose success partly laid in my hands as a form teacher. I knew there was greatness in all of you. A greatness even some of you never noticed in yourselves because all this while nobody had told you how capable and great you were. You were all like diamonds covered with dirt, my job was to rub that dirt and make you shine. I could see in your eyes the lack of confidence that you had just because of the fact that you belonged to normal acad. But you didn’t know that the only thing that separates a champion from a loser is not his ability but it is his belief and confidence. I promised myself that I will do everything possible to make you guys realize your greatness and unlock the belief and confidence in you.

So I introduced a lot of rules for everything, a proper system for everything because I wanted you to become disciplined and be the best. I relaxed when the time was right. I implemented the squats and the push ups for the first time in my teaching career as a means of punishment, I never used it before. This was because I wanted you to be the best, even if I feared some of you may hate me in return. I wanted your success more than I wanted you to love me. At times I was a bit too harsh with my punishment, those days I went back and wet my bed with tears because I had to be strong when i punished you, but could not hold back my tears when I was alone lying in my bed. Perhaps you didn’t know that by punishing you, I punished myself deep inside. It was a tough journey, sometimes in class I was so filled with emotions when I saw you guys not in the right path, I started to get worried and I nagged at you and sounded like your grandmother. I was often speechless with emotions. I think you witnessed those moments.

By the middle of the year, you guys performed a great heroic achievement, your Maths scores were outstanding. With more practice and consistency and hard work, you proved that you can be better than anyone, even express students. Near the end of the year, I replaced some of the Maths tuition with other subjects like Geography and Science but you still continued to excel at Maths because your confidence was already high and nothing could bring you down. At the end of the year you had 33 passes for Mathematics out of 40 and you improved in most other subjects too, that is indeed another record for 1N2. This has indeed a record breaking year and you guys are simply the best and will motivate those 1N2 classes in the next years.

During the whole year, I never could tell you how much I loved you but I am sure you guys knew. Sometimes, when you love someone so much, you can’t look at them in the face and tell them that. That’s why I could never look at you and tell you those 3 words. I have yet to have my own children in my life, but this is probably the closest I came to loving my own children. I knew if I broke down, some of you would break down, and a lover does not like to see tears in the eyes of those he loves. I am glad I was strong in the final days we had together. I never loved any class more than I loved you guys.

I want to end by saying, this was the greatest year of the 34 years of my life. It is a year that changed my life, a year that taught me to love, a year that proved to me that anybody can achieve anything, a year that showed me that there is no such word IMPOSSIBLE, that anything is POSSIBLE with hard work. I hope you have learnt these too…I want to end this farewell note but wait… NEVER SAY GOODBYE… because a lover does not say goodbye to the ones he loves, he only says “I will see you again”. So see you guys again my dearies.

Lots of Love,
Mr Khan
